Fight your way.
Kudo, otherwise known as Daido Juku, or the ‘school of the great way’, was founded in the 1980s. Kudo is a hybrid Japanese martial art that blends striking with throws, takedowns, sweeps and grappling to create a wholistic fighting system.
The fundamental tenet of Kudo is to take what works and leave what does not. The ruleset was designed to allow free-form combat where fighters embrace their unique styles and attributes.
Kudo retains the toughness of its forebears while fundamentally
progressive in its training and combat.
Tough. Not Toxic.
Budo is the warrior spirit underpinning much traditional martial art. Budo demands toughness and resilience. Sadly, many confuse being a warrior with being toxic and regressive.
New England Kudo offers space to cultivate strength and resilience without the toxicity often associated with mixed martial arts.
We embrace budo to build dangerous fighters, well-rounded people and life-long martial artists. Whether you’re taking the next step in your journey or just getting started, you’ll find a community with us
Our culture is simple: All Budo. No Bullshit.
Modern pedagogy. Old School Grit.
We take teaching and learning seriously so you get better faster, safer. Sensei Jim holds a PhD in social science and takes pride in delivering high quality training:

Adult Classes
Kudo enables a realistic, relatively safe and sustainable combative
experience. The sport is well suited for competition, self-defense and
long-term study.
Adult Classes cover all aspects of Kudo. Classes emphasize full contact,
moderate intensity partner work to facilitate problem solving in a low-
stakes environment. Partner activities and sparring are important to
every class.
Adult classes are beginner friendly and require no experience. These
classes are open to students 18 years and over.
Kumite Classes
These classes operate at a higher intensity to our adult classes. Kumite classes demand high mental and physical exertion. They pair sparring with conditioning, and challenge students to hone their ‘fight IQ’ under pressure.
Competition
Competitive Kudo is growing! Students at New England Kudo are encouraged to compete in Kudo International Federation tournaments on
the regional, national and world stage.
Students can also use Kudo as a basis for competition in other styles.
Although no students are obliged to compete, we support each student
who chooses to do so.
